I had many concerns regarding my daughter. Making wrong choices to fit in with the crowd, getting angry, flying off the handle for the littlest of things. I know this sounds like typical teenager behaviour, but I felt my daughter was having issues expressing herself emotionally and I just needed to find a way to help before it was too late!
From an academic point of view the feedback from school was that she was capable but not reaching/working to her full potential. This was frustrating for her as she felt she was trying but didn’t get the results.
She lacked organisation in all aspects of life and struggled to understand what was being asked of her. She didn’t seem to have any concept of time, consequences etc. and life was quite chaotic.
I heard about the Performance Breakthrough programme through a friend and decided to go and have a chat with Susan.
During our first meeting Susan chatted to my daughter and seemed to understand exactly what she was going through. Instantly I knew this was something we had to try.
I was worried that she would not commit to the programme but quite quickly she got into the routine and we saw it through to the end.
Within a few weeks I noticed improvements. She was much less angry. Through time she seemed to be thinking things through a lot more and was gaining the confidence to be able to think for herself rather than going with the crowd to fit in. Life at home was a lot more settled. She also began improving academically and definitely was a lot more organised in all aspects of life.
One year on what can I say? The programme was a life line.
My daughter is now studying for her Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care and is holding down a part-time job.
I believe that this programme was invaluable to my daughter’s emotional development and in turn helped improve all aspects of her life.
Thank you Susan for helping us in our journey.
