After: Clearer mind, calmer mood, just two minutes a day.

Recently, many women were surprised to hear reports, including coverage from the BBC, linking menopause to changes in the brain and an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

For a long time, menopause has mainly been associated with hormonal shifts, hot flushes, and mood changes. However, research is now showing that menopause affects much more than hormones alone. It can significantly influence how the brain functions.

During menopause, areas of the brain responsible for memory, focus, emotional regulation, and reaction time can be affected. This helps explain why so many women experience symptoms such as brain fog, forgetfulness, anxiety, overwhelm, frustration, and difficulty concentrating.

Scientists have even found evidence of grey matter loss in parts of the brain linked to memory and emotion during this transition. They believe this may partly explain why women tend to have a higher risk of developing dementia later in life compared to men.

While this information can feel concerning, there is also very positive news!

The Brain Can Change, Rewire, and Strengthen

The brain is not fixed or permanent in how it works. It is adaptable and capable of forming new connections throughout life.

This process, often referred to as neuroplasticity, means the brain can improve, strengthen pathways, and function more efficiently when it is gently trained.

We have seen this time and time again in both adults and children. When simple movement-based exercises are introduced, many people notice improvements in areas such as:

• clearer thinking and focus
• improved emotional balance
• better memory and concentration

This understanding is the foundation of everything we do and is exactly why we created the Beanbag App.

Why Simple Movement Is So Powerful for the Brain

There are now many high-tech, screen-based brain training tools available, and for some people they can be helpful. However, not everyone wants more screens, more noise, and more complexity, especially during menopause, when the brain is already working harder than usual!

Sometimes the most effective approach is something calm, simple, and easy to stick with.

Our Beanbag App was designed with this in mind.

Each day, you spend just two minutes (about the time it takes to boil a kettle), following a short guided video. You throw and catch the beanbag along with John (our breakthrough coach), gently engaging the brain through movement, coordination, focus, and sequencing.

This combination activates multiple areas of the brain at once, helping to strengthen connections while also calming the nervous system.

Completing these exercises daily is focused mindfulness in motion.

A Personal Experience

I’m currently going through menopause myself, and I use the Beanbag App every morning as part of my routine.

The difference has been noticeable

My head feels clearer, my mood is more stable, and while I still have the occasional frustrating moment, because that’s life, I recover much more quickly. I’m no longer spending the rest of the day feeling foggy or overwhelmed.

Those two simple minutes have become a powerful daily habit.

It’s Not About Pushing Harder

Supporting your brain during menopause doesn’t mean doing intense workouts or complicated routines.

It’s about working with your brain and body together in a gentle, consistent way.

If you’ve been feeling:

• Foggy or forgetful
• Emotional or overwhelmed
• Not quite like yourself

Your brain isn’t broken.

It’s simply adjusting to a new phase of life.

And simple daily movement can make a meaningful difference in how you support your brain health during this transition.
