Susan’s Skydive for Mencap!

Our Happy Friday Update

We are sharing our Happy Friday Update a little early this week as on Friday, our Founder Susan Steele will be skydiving over the Southern Alps in New Zealand to raise money for Mencap.

You can support Susan by helping her raise money for this great cause by donating directly to her JustGiving fundraising page.

JustGiving sends your donation straight to Mencap and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.

Susan explains:

“I am choosing Mencap because they are a local charity who do fantastic work for children with many different challenges and help them to break through barriers.  My aim in Performance Breakthrough for the last 9 years has been to help children and their families break through barriers and unlock their full potential so I am always keen to support any charity with similar aims to my own.”

There are 42,000 people with a learning disability in Northern Ireland.  Mencap work to give children and families the best start in life. The services they provide include skills development and support to find work placement and jobs.  They provide person-centerd housing tailored to each individual.  They work in partnership with people with a learning disability in Northern Ireland to fight to change laws and improve services and access to education, employment and leisure facilitiesTo find out more about Mencap in Northern Ireland visit their website or you can help Susan to fundraise for them by donating through her JustGiving* page.

Susan has been working with children and families since 2010 after finding this programme of balance and co-ordination exercises for her own 2 sons.  You can read more of Susan’s story on our website.   Over the last 9 years Susan has been helping families who have come to her because  their children have been struggling in school, with reading, writing and spelling difficulties, being easily distracted, having low concentration and often behavioural issues.

Feedback we receive from families and children, often within the first few weeks includes things like their child being less anxious, happier in themselves, homework is no longer a nightmare and much more more.  Have a look through our recent ‘Happy Friday Updates’, our weekly good news stories to see what we mean.

As Susan takes a well earned break this month and has the opportunity to skydive over the Southern Alps in New Zealand (an experience that has been billed as ‘A Skydiving experience beyond imagination’) Susan being Susan didn’t just want to enjoy the experience, she wanted to make it mean something and for others to gain from what she is doing.  That is why she picked Mencap, a local charity whose work she admires as the charity she has decided to fundraise for!  So that is why we are now looking forward to hearing about Susan’s Skydive for Mencap this Friday.

We look forward to hearing from Susan about her Skydive, and will update you when we hear how she got on.  In the meantime if you would like to find out more about what we do at Performance Breakthrough, get in touch – we can help!

Performance Breakthrough is an innovative and effective approach to helping many fundamental skills in education and sport.

Our balance and co-ordination exercises enable you to unlock your full potential, naturally.

If your body is not in balance, your mind doesn’t work to it’s full potential.  We have been helping children to improve in school for almost 10 years and have found that each child enhanced their ability in sport.

We are therefore delighted to be breaking into the sporting field to help sports people unlock their potential too.

Our programme consists of: –

  • Free evaluation assessment
  • Balance & co-ordination exercises
  • Maximum 15 minutes per day/5 days per week
  • Interactive and fun activities
