Imagine your child, sitting in a classroom and being asked to write a story.
Immediately they start forming ideas and a wonderful story takes shape in their head.
They take pencil to paper and they start writing.
Then another idea comes into their head and they write a bit about that.
Then they think of another point that they should make…
By this stage their hand is sore from writing so they finish the story with ‘The End!’
They have put a lot of effort in and they feel that they have written a wonderful story. What they’ve actually produced is a disjointed story with no flow which ends abruptly.
If this was happening to us, how frustrated would we be? How often would we try to write a story before we would simply give up?
This is not down to a child being lazy or not wanting to write a story. They want to be able to prove how smart they are but they struggle to get what is in their head down on paper.
We understand how your child feels and how scary it can be for a parent to watch their child struggle.

Noah wanted to play hockey.
His parents found him a team, but he was nervous and didn’t want to get involved.
He wanted to be picked for the team, but when he was he couldn’t focus on the game.
When the team won, he celebrated, but when they lost he was frustrated and upset, more than any of his teammates.
4 months after starting the Performance Breakthrough programme, he can now think as a team player.
He is more aware of his team and their competitors on the field.
When things go wrong he doesn’t get upset and frustrated, he works with his teammates to play better next time.
Noah’s coach now describes him as “A Fearless Attacker!”
If your child is reluctant to get involved in sport, we can help. To find out more, join our Free Webinars on Thursdays at 10am and 8pm.
